Advantages of A Gun Light
Weapon light is specifically known by gun enthusiasts as weapon mounted flashlight, but can also be referred as gun light, gun mounted flashlight, or pistol light.
Basic Reasons of A Weapon Light
Whether you’re a policeman, a hunter, or a gun enthusiast, a weapon mounted flashlight provides accuracy in aiming at a target in situations where there is low light or hardly any light and, with that, the safety considerations of not firing anyone else but just the target is put in place. Precise aiming of the target in mind and not falling into the mistake of shooting someone else are what accuracy with a mounted flashlight tends to achieve.
Advantages of Weapon Lights
Imagine the constraint of running after your target in a dim light place and one hand is cocking the gun and the other hand is holding a flashlight – this difficulty can be now eliminated with the use of a mounted flashlight on your gun, so that you have the ease and flexibility to move and run faster and apprehend your target. Most law enforcement officers carry a gun with an attachable flashlight since a weapon light has become a crucial part of the gun which they use on a regular basis when they are tasked to clear homes, catching criminals or simply protecting themselves, during a night duty.
Kinds of Gun Lights
Before, mounted flashlights were attached on mostly rifles, but there are now new types of mounted flashlights which have found their way on shotguns, submachine guns, battle rifles, hand guns, and carbines. The advancement on weapon lights is such that there are lightweight models for everyday use or expensive mounted flashlights for high-risk situations.
Choosing the Proper Light Bulb
You have to be selective in choosing the right and sturdy light model, as there are so many to choose from now that they are at bargain prices, one that can handle the forces imparted during a rough use. Also consider that LED-bulb types are longer-lasting so you save more, durable and don’t burn out; however, the only problem is that LED lights produce less visible light. However, recent advances in LED technology have given rise to infrared (IR) LED lights which are heavily used now by night-vision equipment. Although more expensive than the conventional alkaline batteries, the power-packed CR123, 3-volt lithium batteries are more often used because of its light intensity which is needed most in dangerous, night missions.
Proper Training on Weapon Light Use
Test first the condition of the gun light in a limited or no light situations, so that you can find out the strength and limitations of the gun light. Run firing exercises with a mounted flashlight so you can get the proper and right way of switching the light right on time during firing. Note that, a professional training is still the best recourse to do as it will afford you the right way to use a mounted light gun.
Weapon lights have been proven to be beneficial to a gunner as they aid in focusing mainly on the target, momentarily shake up the target’s eyes as it is caught off-hand, and provide the time advantage of taking control of a potentially bad situation.
