Different from the American style burrito, it is here that you will be able to have a taste of the authentic Mexican made burrito.

A thin and small sized burrito with one or two ingredients is what the Mexican burrito is. These ingredients can either be chili Relleno, Asadero cheese, potatoes, fish, beans or any kind of meat. Cheese, refried beans, mole, barbecue sauce, chopped hot dogs in a tomato chili sauce, shredded flank steak can also be part of the ingredients in these burritos. It is also the salsa verde that you can find in these burritos which are very spicy. It is the American burrito that may contain lettuce, salsa, avocado, and sour cream which is not present in any Mexican style burrito. In the northern part of Mexico is where you will be able to see the popularity of burritos.

It is now in Mexico also that you will be able to see the whole wheat burrito. The very reason for this is that there are parts of Mexico that do not grow maize. It is in the past though that you can only see wheat flour tortillas in the northwest part of Mexico.
